What we store
- Player account. An anonymous account is created when you play, so your laps can go on the leaderboard. It holds a random ID and the display name you choose.
- Laps. Lap and sector times, the device type (keyboard, controller, touch or phone as a controller) and a replay of your driving inputs, used to check laps.
- Google account (optional). If you choose "Save my account", we receive your Google email address and basic profile from Google, only to sign you back in to the same player. We do not access anything else in your Google account.
- Usage analytics. Anonymous gameplay events (for example laps completed and settings used) to improve the game.
- In your browser. Your session, best lap and settings are kept in local storage on your device.
Phone as a controller
If you pair a phone, its motion sensor is read on the phone only to work out steering; the readings are not stored or sent anywhere except as steering input to your game. The pairing code and connection details are exchanged through Supabase; a pairing key then goes directly between your devices and is kept only in each browser for that session. Your controls then go directly between your phone and computer, not through our servers. To set up that direct connection, both browsers briefly contact public connection servers run by Google and Cloudflare, which see your IP address.
What is public
Your display name and lap times appear on the leaderboard. Your email address is never shown or shared.
Who processes it
Data is stored with Supabase (database, sign-in and phone pairing), the site is hosted by Vercel, and analytics are handled by PostHog. Google and Cloudflare connection servers help a paired phone connect. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Deleting your data
Email hello@builtbydimi.com with your display name and we will delete your account and laps. Signing out of a saved account, or clearing your browser data, removes what is stored on your device.
